Ottavia's bogainvillea

I got home last night to find a very upset Ottavia who had had to cut down her bougainvillea yesterday morning because the winds and rain had been so violent during the night that they had pulled it away from its supports on the wall and was hanging perilously down onto the pavement - very dangerous for pasers by with all those nasty thorns. There was no way she could get it back onto the supports so they told her to saw it ... she was heartbroken, as those of you who have seen my earlier photos of her magnificent plant will realise why. Her consolation is that it will wake up and flower next year ....

I'm sure it will Jacque. She's now saying that wants to train it to grow more horizontally and not get so high and out of hand - makes her TLC a bit easier for her. If you notice from older photos of mine, another shrub that has gone is her Japanese Mimosa.

Nature has good ways of making repairs.
Let's hope it comes back even stronger next year. :o)
