Euphorbia tirucalli - Pencil Bush

Euphorbia tirucalli - Pencil Bush (Euphorbia tirucalli - Pencil Bush)

This very common tree is grown everywhere (except mountains) in Southern California. It can grow very large in time. I saw one that was about 100 years old, it was 40+ tall and had a gigantic trunk about 6 feet in diameter. 20 - 25 feet is more typical though.

My plant was from a very small cutting a neighbor gave me 5 years ago...it is about 9 feet tall.

What will you do when it grows very big ?

It can be cut back...or I'll take 6 or 7 foot cuttings and stick them in the ground and start new plants.
