Ha Ha, TT. The other day, in a catalogue, I saw a pic of a grass with this shape and colour of seedheads. It's called "Flying Hedgehogs". I must admit that I was quite interested in their dark brown colour.

What a cool surprise, my son would have pitched a fit to keep him ! I have a feeling I'll be seeing some 'flying hedgehogs' in your garden next year..lol.

Never mind the kids, Irish, I was amazed to find him. This was in our old home. I never learned to keep doors closed! The birds used to sneak in and "vacuum" up the breakfast leftovers, given the chance. I used to be the one on the outside looking in, as barging in on them meant a huge mess needing clearing up. Here, in our still new home, it is squirrels! Our neighbour recently got up one morning, went into the bathroom, and found one in the washbasin. The whole household was woken up by the noise of its angry shrieks! (appeals to my sense of humour).

Oh i loved the story of the squirrel in the basin! I've had them try to take up residence in the attic...worrisome because they are chewers and they don't discriminate, they'll try any wire they see! SSSSzzzzzzttttt! Fire! guess it's a good thing we don't have hedgehogs over here...I'd have to try one as a pet! raccoons make lovely pets... saw an HH at the petstore.... $245. for a hedgehog kit...cage, food, toys and critter. Can't wait to see the pics of flying hedgehogs...sounds like a wrinkle on "when pigs fly"...when hogs fly??? that might be any time next summer in your garden, David!!

$245 for one of those kits? Plywood hedgehog houses can be bought here for around £40, but, as Jacque has shown here on GOY, a better one can be made in the garden for free!

Don't think the poor little hogs would survive our cold. they are strictly indoor pets over 'eer.
