I bring my Cymbidium orchids in the house for a while when they bloom. Generally, I can bring them in for a week or so before they need to go back outside in the Sun. Pic was taken Feb. 11, 2007.

Yes, they are pretty flowers. I'm not sure about the named variety though...I purchased this plant about 13 years ago.

Wow! Do Cymbids require a lot more light that the Phalaenopsis we are are collecting at the moment? I've fallen in love with the miniature Phals...they are so diminutive and sweet...and all the same colours and markings as the larger ones, but take up very little room. Ideal for collectors with more plants than space to keep them!! (Like me.)

Lori:
Cymbidium species require a considerable amount of light...no full sun is needed for them to bloom though. There's miniature Cymbium species available now.

believe it or not I went to Walmart yesterday and there they were! Cymbidiums...about 2-1'2 ft tall with lovely huge blossom spikes...$28...not bad...so I decided to think about it...hahaha I'm going back to get one!! My hubby wasn't fooled for a minute!
