I found this one as a witches' broom in Hurn Forest near to Christchurch, so far staying very compact with very stiff short branches.

Greenthumb - Many dwarf conifers are derived from witches' brooms especially pines ,firs and spruces, they are usually naturally very slow growing and compact.

Of course some brooms are better than others, and the main goal amongst collectors is to find those that are extremely slow growing and compact, they are always considered the most desirable.

Is the witches broom collection what keeps so many of your conifers so compact? This one looks wonderful.
