Redtail Hawk

This Red Tail is a beautiful flyer...he hovers over the bluff and hunts through the winter...this was taken late last winter...I have seen him around but the leaves are not all gone from the tree. Hopefully he will chose it for his roost again this winter...he and I spent last winter enjoying viewing each other while we relaxed, me in my favorite chair and he on his limb.

Looks absolutely great, Cf. They have such keen eyesight. I used to have a family of Harris Hawkes that I took video of and some still pictures...The nest was high in our pine tree...when the babies were learning to hunt, they would come down on the ground, grab a stick, fly up and drop it....that family amused us for several months. when Momma Hawk started her second family in the tree, a great horned owl decided to take over the nest. She shoved the existing eggs out of the nest and proceeded to raise her own family there. The Harris hawks left the area. It was sad to see them go and I watched the owls until the day we moved.

I have seen him hovering over the bluff but not in the tree yet..it still has quite a few leaves...he will not want to use it until it makes a clear viewing roost for him to hunt from I am sure..
