Don't know the name of this, can anyone tell me? It is quite common and prolific in this area.

Hi folkes, looked up Centaura, and it's not that! I know cornflowers, its very similar, but different, you couldn't see on the photo but the leaves are grey/green.

~There are different types of a Centaurea. The genus includes the cornflower and apparently there are 90 species including Montana and Scabiosa and the national collection is held at Bide a Wee cottage Northumberland. Not sure where to get pics of them all though!~

It's definately a type of Centaurea. I've always known it as a perenial Cornflower. I think it's Centaurea montana. The leaves of that are a grey/green colour.

Hi Marge! I had this plant, Centaurea, for years, and it had leaves grey on one side and green on other.

A cousin of this plant grows wild in Washington state. We call them bachelor buttons. They have always been one of my favorites. Ours have the greyish leaves. Yours is even more strikingl with the smooth green leaves.

Hi weeds11. I love this plant, it keeps on flowering all year. The leaves are grey/green, but for some reason they look very green on the photo.
It is one of those plants that I was given, but it really likes my garden, and has seeded itself all over.
Welcome to the site, I've put you into my faourites list. Love Marge.
