They are really nice in pots. In the ground they grow to monster plants sprawling up a tree to more than 60 feet tall...or taking over a large fence.

Yes you are right Delonix1, I'd rather have my bougainvilleas potted because of this.

All mine are in pots. They are beautiful to look at as a large shrub or sprawling vine, however, I've been poked too many times by their large thorns.
