Ensete ventricosum in bloom next to the Interenational houses in Balboa Park. This plant looks pretty beat up from wind. Pic taken Mar. 13, 2008.

It was cut down this late Spring or Summer. Once they bloom they die.

I heard that if you cut them down as they flower..they will pup. If you let them flower..and die on their own they never sucker. Maybe.
