191108_003.jpg (Nepenthes ventricosa (Pitcher Plant))

This is a rather bigger Nepenthes with nice pitchers that I forgot I had a picture of. The plant is now with my sister.

That's amazing! Did you grow this from a small plant or start with a larger one?

I never start with large plants Gillian. As soon as the plants are large, I lose interest and give them away or sell them for charity. This started as a small offset just like the previous picture (pitcher?).

You clearly have a talent for raising these, well done!

The N. ventricosa is the easiest to grow of these but can still be very naughty temperature-wise.

That's a fabulous specimen! You sound like a good person to know...just giving these beauties away!!! It looks as if t you may be the person to ask, when it comes to carnivorous plants. Do you know if these plants can survive without a lot of bugs to eat? I've been feeding Seymour (Sarracenia rubra), as I like to call him dead insects, such as flies, mosquitoes, and small moths as we squish them in the house. I have it living indoors, because the summers get really hot here and I don't want to let it dry out.

Hi Tastey. Sarras need very few bugs to survive and will go for months without a snack.

Thanks :)

I saw a plant of this type the other day in a garden centre. Never seen one before, I was intrigued.

Wow..., I love these ! This plant is so unique looking. It reminds me of a tropical rain forest.

It is of course from the tropical rain forest Flcrazy. My latest (pictures before this one on my page) is putting out new cups. New picture following in the next few days. If you were in the UK I'd offer you one in return for a charity donation. But in the Carolinas it's a bit difficult getting it to you. Lol.

Regards and have a GREAT Christmas.

John.

Thanks John, it's the lovely thought that counts anyway ! Besides I would just kill it anyway, I'm afraid. I would have to bring it in during the winter months and that would pretty much be it's death sentence...lol I have a love -hate relationship with house plants. All but the toughest, most stubborn ones always die on me... ;-)
I Hope you have a wonderful Holiday season too. Take care!
