In Training for the GOY Welly Olympics.

I doubt whether there will be any snow events in Terratoonie's Olympics, but the training is worth it. As far as the trials in Fiji are concerned, however, I don't stand the proverbial "snowball's chance in Hell"!

David ~
Our GoY team is definitely in the Winter Wellie Olympics, and you look certain for selection with Lucky for the sled dog race. However, as opposed to the traditional way, in your case, Lucky sits on the sled and you pull him along. :o)

Check out Gee19's photo of one from our rival team - a Flower Pot SnowPerson, taken from Chrispook's garden light photo. Can you follow that ? Lol.

Gilli from Canada has already signed up for the Olympic flame throwing event, determined to melt all the opposition. :o)

but, but, do my eyes deceive me? I don't see any wellies! gasp...is that hikers on your feet? or cross trainers? hmmmm....

Lori ~
You are such a valuable member of the team, spotting these things.
I'm sure for the actual Sled Dog Race, David will find wellies for himself and for Lucky the Border Terrier pup. :o)

Have you seen my photo of Mr. Claptrap.???
He has Paddington wellies. Lol. :o)

Oh no, TT! This means even more intensive training - and the snow's all gone now (thank Goodness).

Yes, Lori, just plain old leather moccasin-style shoes, and no jacket! The only wellies I possess are old ones of the kids, or a pair of ceramic ones. now, where are they?

Yes, as we get into winter, I'm hoping for more photos of Wellie Olympics training. Even if it means your buying a new pair of Wellies....
........... and I like the latest avatar photo...
seems you are dedicated to this training. :o)

Hi David, just keep up with the extensive training, you'll be in for a lot of surprises and fun for the Fiji Trials. That sleigh looks ideal for sliding down the sandunes in the sun here.
p.s. and don't forget your wellies!!! :-)

Ceramic wellies will work well in the snow if you are entering the Slip, Slid and Crash event, David. However, for the sled dog race I think a pair of wellies with spikes in the bottom might be better. (That's spikes for the snow, not spikes for your feet) ;oD

OK, real wellies, with spikes? Will research (this takes me back to my childhood when I was made to wear wellies! Aaaaaaaegh! They make your feet even wetter and colder, don't they? Do I get even a cheap certificate, printed off the 'Net, just for putting therm on?

I got a welly full of pond water last week, the bucket I was using to empty some of the pond water sloshed it all inside my welly, made worse with hubby laughing at me from the kitchen window - had cold feet and a very wet leg - yuk! I'd definately have won the olympic gold medal for the coldest, wettest, water filled welly!

Hi Greenfingers ~
Pity you didn't take a photo, or it would have gone straight onto my recent Winter Wellie Olympics blog. :o)
.......... or is there a photo of the wellie ???

5 Feb, 2009

Yes, Greenfingers, I would have given you a Gold for this! And a "thumbs down" to your hubby! Guess he's not into fishing, then, lol!

No pic I'm afraid - but I dare say it won't be the last time I end up with a welly full of water!
