For TT., a recent photo of Jasper on a chilly afternoon last weekend. Neither of us spent much time in the garden, he curled up snuggly by my chair while I wrote Christmas letters and a few cards.

I know this is an old photo....but dare I ask if Jasper is still with you ? I had a lurcher (Jim) who l lost last year aged almost 14yrs.

Sadly no, Judy.
This time last year a lump developed on his muzzle which the vet thought was an abcess on a tooth. Antibiotics didn't have the desired effect so it was operated on. It proved to be a growth which had gone too far to be successfully removed.
It was a very sad time, I lost my Mum and Jasper to cancer at the beginning of last year. However, both were a good age, Mother was 87 and Jasper 18. Of course I miss them a lot but I have many happy memories of good times spent in their company.

Am so sorry ,must have been a really tough year for you.
Can't imagine what it's like to loose your Mum....but, like you say the memories will always live on,not that that is any help at the time.
18 is a very good age for a dog..you must have given him the absolute best of care. I will eventually put a picture of Jim on my site for you to see...they are the image of each other !

I shall look forward to seeing Jim's picture, Judy.
Jasper was our Battersea Special, he was such a young pup when we first met him that he was housed in their cattery. He was a mongrel with probably terrier/lurcher parentage mix.

Bless !Thought he looked very lurcher like, looking at his head. Jim was also a rescue dog (he was about a year old when we got him from the local rescue centre) ,he looked just like a toast rack -and was very weak .It was a long time before we could feed him normal dog food, as his digestive system was so delicate from a poor diet. All that aside he was a wonderful dog...though, for some reason, he hated black labs, which made walks a little difficult, as one of the local farmers had one who used to roam free!
