Calycanthus raulstonii 'Hartlage Wine' . This plant has had so much nomenclature issues , last I checked this was right . Despite what many say this thing will get close to 15' and still waiting to see if more . I will look for the pic with me in front of it .
Amazing plant !

This really is a rare beauty. This is a cross between our native sweetshrub and the a Chinese sweetshrub, correct ? I remember hearing about it on a Episode of "Gardener's Diary". It was located on Don Shadows farm-nursery. You wouldn't happen to live near him would you.? He owns a large wholesale plant nursery, and he also raises several rare, nearly extinct species of animals on his farm.

Yes , you are right . Who ? jk .
I have sold him liners and 3 gal. stock plants since 2004 . Let me rephrase that , he has been kind enough to buy or trade for them . Don is the coolest ! I should write a book . I can't say enough good things about him . The distance between us- maybe a solid hour . I will see what pics I have of him or of his many farms . I like 'Gardeners Diary' , Erica is cool too . Do you remember seeing an episode from Hermitage , TN ?

Have you been on her show....?!! Wow...., that would be too cool ! I bet I have seen it, I have Gardener's Diary set up to record everytime it comes on HGTV. I remember one other Gar. Diary show done in Tennessee, don't know the town. The couple had a large farm, and I remember some Bull topiaries on it. They had a beautiful Styrax japonicum 'Pink Chimes' tree in a secluded garden close to a swing, I think. I remembered thinking I'd LOVE to have one of them, and it went on my wish list. Don Shadows show just ran again a few weeks ago, so it's fresh in my memory...lol. He has a Davidia involucrata, dove tree, that I'm dieing to have. It's the cultivar 'Sonoma'. It supposed to bloom by it's second or third year, much sooner than the straight species. I can't find a single retail mail-order business on the entire eastcoast who has one for sale when I've googled it on the internet !

That was it and I was quite baffled at no mention of me . I stay somewhat low on the radar though . I reckon I didn't fit the format due that I probably looked purtee burly at that point in my life . One of those cows is toast and Sioux filled it in with Sporobilis heterolepis . Yea that 'Pink Chimes ' got ambrosia beat les and was killed back to the ground then came back multi-stem like lagerstroemia . Holler at me if you want a 'Sonoma' . Looks like you support PDN from your pics , good job with your plantings . What town do you reside in Flcrazy ?

WOW...!! So your wife has been on Gardener's Diary, how very cool...! I remember she was so sweet and cheerful, and lovely wearing her little straw hat. What a small world !
I can't believe I'm FINALLY going to get a Sonoma... This Is so FANTASTIC...I think I'm going to CRY like a big ole baby...! THANK YOU so very much !
I live in Hickory, North Carolina. Wow..., , I do buy alot of plants from PDN, you're very good at spotting this, amazing ! If you can send me a private message on my page with the name of your nursery I'll get my order in today, along with my credit card info. Oh yea...,I'm getting a Sonoma, ~Lot- ti-Da, ~ Oh yea..*!
