The name just suits it too don't you think? Very large leaves!

Terratoonie,
This is very typical of the Arum family flowers.
Panther, yes...I'm sure you know how large they grow living in Fiji.
I have seen plants here over 15 feet tall with leaves more than 8 feet long.

Yes we do have them here too Delonix, actually the new leafy shoots makes a good dish here added in coconut milk.

Yes, I know the young leaves and rhizomes when cooked are edible. In the Caribbean they are know as Yautia which is the dish they are called when the rhizomes are cooked. Similar to poi in Hawaii from Colocasia esculenta - Taro.
I have Yautia in my front yard, however, it never grows very large...the sow bugs always eat the stems and roots...they like to eat them too. LOL.

Panther,
Actually, sow bugs are different than grubs...they are called pill bugs also...The sow bugs eat everything, even my mature Papaya trunks and bore holes in them which in some cases have killed my Papaya plants. The local nurserymen say they only eat decomposing matter - - I tell them to come to my house and I'll show them what they eat. lol. Anyway, there's thousands of them in my yard under the plants. The pesticides I've used don't seem to work very well either.
