Another Fox Tail Agave in North Park. Pic taken today.

Sandra, this flower spike is about 8 feet (2.5 meters) tall. It's smaller than they usually grow which is 12 - 15 feet (4 -5 meters) tall.
Marguerite, these old neighborhoods were build in the early 1920's and still have above ground wiring...all the newer neighborhoods from the 1970's on, have underground wiring.
According to the City of San Diego all the wiring will eventually go underground, however, it will take many, many years especially with the state of our horrible economic climate.

Wow, it looks frightening, yes Marguerite it does remind me of a triffid from the book "The Day of the Triffids". Does it flower at all Delonix?

Telephone poles will be missed as much as those old black rotary phones with 1' of cord.
Still,they do look like a 40's film noir. A step back in time.
