Oh dear. It doesn't look well at all. I'm not an expert on Rhodies, I can't grow them here. Try Andrew - he has some.

Do you think the bird droppings have caused the problem ?
A pity because it is a nice plant.

no i don't think bird droppings would have this effect, anyway arnt they suposed to be lucky? lol

Yes, you're right. I've heard it said that bird droppings are supposed to be lucky :o)
I only mentioned that idea, because I have Hydrangea seemanii and its leaves did get damaged by bird-droppings. When I rearranged my trellis so that birds weren't immediately above the climber, the leaves returned to good health. :o)

aahhh did'nt know that TT, thanks for the info, may be due to this then, who knows? i am going to fleece it anyway, in the next couple of days, should have already done it really as has is recently been moved, but just not had the time, maybe this will help.

Yes, I reckon the fleecing definitely would help. The bird droppings which were damaging the leaves on my climbing hydrangea were mostly from larger ones, e.g. Blackbirds, Collared Doves, Wood Pigeons. The leaves on your rhododendron look so very like the almost 'burnt' look which the droppings caused. I hope your rhodo bounces back because they have such pretty flowers :o)

Well you learn something new every day TT, i had no idea that bird droppings could be the reason for this, and yes i get all of the above mentioned birds visiting the bird table. thanks for the tips.
