thanks, and do you think so Jac? close up it's a right mess lol to be honest, i did'nt do the late cut, like i did last year, as it was too wet, but what has made a lot of difference was going round with my half moon on the edges of the beds as i did all the mulching and weeding. the grass it's self is clumpy, long in places and mud patches in others, but the bed edging makes it look far better than it actually is, you can do it when the ground is wetish, as long as not frozen or water logged, give that a go, you may find it looks completely different without cutting it. and as for tidyness, you should see the back area close up, bags of rubbish everywere lol i have someone that will remove it for me, but there is quite a lot from where i brought the beds out a bit this autumn, and he charges £1 a bag, so will have to wait till after christmas now. but it really is bad up there, plus one of my composters has split and leaking out all over the concrete, never mind. i certainly have my work cut out before spring lol
