I actually installed a squirrel baffel otherwise they tear up my feeders. The birds knock plenty of seeds to the ground for the several squirrels that visit regularly.

this is what we call a red squirrel. we have grey squirrels also in this area. It is the grey squirrels I believe you get an occasional black one from. There is a town in Northeren Illinois that has several white squirrels. Aledo Illinois has more than their fair share of black squirrels.

The black fox squirrel you have Mike may be a dark pigment gray or could also be a rare black variety. The blacks are larger and have some white underneath, I saw one 5 years ago on a fishing trip and was just amazed.

The one I see now and then is larger and he does have white underneath so I guess he's a rare one. I've never seen a red one in person.

This little guy seems to have a lot of brown on him. I see a black one around here on occasion. Haven't been able to get a pic of him yet.
