This is what I fell in love with.....the sound of trickling water, the echoing sound of our laughter, the tranquility and greeness of Norfolk...now all this has gone. The cottage at the back has crumbled to pieces...the hedge on the left hand side had been cut and now looks unkempt and shrivelled up! The pond has gone, the plant next to the bench has gone and we've sowed some grass seeds.

Pity about the cottage - it did look a lovely picturesque feature :-(

Looks very inviting but like Janey said, what happened and do you have photos of this past summer of 2008? How about a close up of the wee stone cottage?

You can do this again! you have the picture to follow it from!

Pinky - have a look at Vilai's other pics - this is how it looked before she bought the property, but when she moved in she found the previous owners had taken a lot of shrubs with them - which is very naughty as in law shrubs are considered fixtures of the property that add value to it and therefore are automatically included in the purchase price. If you want to take your shrubs when you sell a property, you should indicate to the buyer that you're taking them and the buyer can negotiate a price for them - like if you're leaving the fridge or curtains or whatever.

You're right Sid...not good.at all....I can't understand anyone doing that. The little cottage at the back Villai*.......has the whole structure gone or just the roof tiles and beams?....it wouldn't take too much to do it up again..and it was a lovely feature of your garden...you could go to a reclamation yard and get an old window frame to put in. Lick of limewash and window box full of trailers....ooh..I can see it now!! :o)

Yes Sid I did. I have a habit of going from photo to photo like turning a pg. I noticed after I asked and PMed her to tell her I need no explanation.
Yes I mentioned that also Sid and Janey after reading her page profile. We have the same laws here and that is so rude,
Good thoughts Janey I would difinently fix up the old cottage even if it was a facade but in the very first photo it looks like she's coming down and has orange plastic construction fence as a barrier

Isn't that Awfull, to view a beautifull garden before moving into your new home and finding it completley different to what you imagined, Unbelievable.. Welcome to Goy Vilai, dont worry you will have it looking beautifull again.....

I thought maybe the orange plastic fencing was a safety barrier so her little boy couldn't wander in there.......I would definitely keep it..would be a great summer house and play room...instead of the window, French doors would be great opening on to the garden, Vilai* would then be able to view it from that aspect too.

Yes I agree Janet 110% that it's a safety barrier and to keep anyone out of harms way' I enlarged the photo and that small cottage is on it's last legs but! it could be saved. If I was not so far away and with my jack of all trade skills I could make that cottage either a facade or functional as a play house/storage shed depending on finances.
You have a positive outlook on this project Janey and that is what is needed.

We did lots of renovating on the Spanish project Rob...so I know it can be done!
I remember spending a whole week grouting floor tiles and annually painting the exterior of the casa and garden walls....ooh the good ole days! lol
