This flock visited my feeders on Saturday tea-time. I have never seen them before and they have not been again since. Grabbed the camera quick and took it through the window before they went away!

Well done Potty....I saw these for the 1st time in November when we went to Devon, but they were too quick for me

They were quick Milky, I just happened to have my camera to hand as I had taken it out with me that day and had only just got home.

Thanks BB, a week now and they have not returned. Shame. Now they know there is food here they may stop off another time when passing.

We have a little flock of about 6 long tail tits visiting occasionally, probably twice a week, then one makes a move and away they all go. Hopefully yours will come back.

They went for everything, which I did not realize till I saw the photo. Nuts, hearts and fat ball! So hope it'll tempt them back!

They've probably been again when you've been out or maybe you've not noticed them :-) I've found they only make a brief visit, so you may have missed them.

The 1s that visit me come& go very fast & there are days i dont see them but hear them some where close by ? Do u find that2 Dawn?

Yes Jacque, they really are so fast, if you blink they are gone, so probably all is not lost PottyG. I havent heard them Jacque but I notice they will sit in a nearby tree for a while before they fly over to the food.

Great, look forward to seeing the pics PottyG. You won't get any jobs done! I really hope they arrive for you.

Been on look-out, still on look-out!
It has been interesting to read how they behave though, not arriving every day and then coming and going quickly.
11 Jan, 2009
Maybe they will arrive tomorrow :-) I havent seen any here for a few days now either.

Did they come back? What a lucky photo. Unusual to see such long tails on a bird - the only one I've seen here with such a long tail is a northern mockingbird.

Hello Elke, I did not actually see them until Sunday 25th January, they could have been before and I had not noticed or not been home!
The weekend of 24/25th Jan is when our Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) have their Garden Birdwatch. This is when they ask people to watch their feeders for an hour and let them know the species and number of birds in our gardens. This helps them gauge species and populations in different areas.
So I guess on that day I was paying particular attention!
