Introducing Poppy

This is Poppy who has come to live with me. He/she is a little peach-faced Lovebird, a member of the parrot family. A relative of my son in law died recently, very suddenly, and left a houseful of pets. There was an African Grey parrot, a Senagal parrot, small macaws, a cockateil, koi carp (in a pond!), goldfish (indoors) plus his little dog, a cocker spaniel. All have now been rehomed within the circle of family and friends. Poppy (we have no idea of his/her original name) was the last left so I agreed to take her. She is very sweet and doesn't seem at all upset by the upheaval of the last week. Chloe is not very sure of the newcomer and comes and sits on my lap every time Poppy makes a noise! Its very difficult to use a laptop with a dog across the keyboard!!

Sure she will soon find her own niche within your family...certainly seems calm now..

These are very sweet little birds. A bit vocal at times but a joy to have around. ENJOY !

What a lovely little bird. Very pretty. She looks very happy with you Gee.
I know about trying to type with a dog on your keyboard. Sometimes I have the dog and the cat at the same time.

I hope Poppy gives you lots of fun.

Hi Gee ~
When you told me of the various pets which would need re-homing, I did wonder if any would find a place with you.
Poppy looks really beautiful.
It is very kind of you to take her in. Crocus my budgie says ~
Poppy - Welcome to GoY. Enjoy. :o)
Gee ~ you might need to update your GoY profile ?

Hello Gee! I have a boy peach faced lovebird named Yoshi! maybe we can get them together! lol...just joking...too far for Yoshi to fly...(he's on a limited budget!) I have a pic of Yoshi (in his salad days) and our geriatric (now deceased) ginger cat K.C. (Kitty Cat) among my pics ...Yoshi is a very plucky little bird...and yes lovebirds whistles and chirps are very penetrating! They are extremely smart and as you get to know your little feathered friend you will find her very personable... Hello Poppy...Yoshi says "Hiya Prettybird!"

an update... I was away visiting and my husband was changing Yoshi's water...guess he thought he would go looking for me...he got out of his cage through the water tray opening and flew out into the backyard...haven't been able to catch him but know he's staying nearby as I've heard his whistles...Hope he decides to come home soon...or at least within reach of my net!! love to Poppy!

Hi Lori, poor Yoshi - I hope he finds his way home soon. Poor husband too, I bet he feels awful. Poppy has settled down nicely and my dog, Chloem, has accepted her too. It took a while! Hope your net gets a catch soon.

Thanks Gee.... Yoshi is still taking a walk on the wild side! I hear his whistle...so he has not gone far and is happily staying near home...just hope he doesn't forget where home is by the time the weather starts to get cold.Terry has promised to stay strictly away at that time...in case Yoshi took all that dashing around with a fish net personally!
