Alnwick Castle is the home of the Duke & Duchess of Northumberland. The garden was first laid out in 1750 but over the years became pretty much derelict. Jane the present Duchess rebuilt the garden beginning in 1997. The castle is just nearby. You can visit the website here http://www.alnwickgarden.com/

~previously from the Newcastle area I now live in Swansea but return frequently to visit my sister~I have been here fairly recently but didn't know about Howick Gardens which I will visit next time I am up there. I like Alnwick including Barter Books!
