Dracaena draco - Dragon Tree

Yes, it has the classic V shape. It is also an extremely long-lived tree. I read about a very large tree in the Canary Island where it is native...that was estimated to be over 7,000 years old.

I do love those Dragon Trees. They are such an interesting shape.

When it's young they usually only have one single trunk. As they age they develop their trunks and V shape...it takes quite a few years though.

I would imagine it takes ages Delonix. Am I right in thinking that these trees can live 100's of years?

I mis-spoke in the previous estimated age of the Old Canary Island Dracaena draco...It was thought to be 3,000 years old...however, now it being disputed.
I've read now it supposedly is more like 650 years old. I know it must be difficult to substantiate such a long-lived tree..because people don't live long enough and documentation is difficult for so many years.

The oldest documented tree that I know of is a Ficus religiosa - Bo Tree - - a sprig carried to Sri Lanka in 300 BC by a disciple of Buddha still survives in the temple of Anuradhapura.
