Lychnis coronaria sp. sieboldii (Lychnis coronaria)

July 31, 2008, south shore of Nova Scotia Canada. A friend gave me a plant from his own garden in the fall of 2007. I had no idea what it was. Wonderful surprise to see these lovely graceful stems and bright flowers. Campions were always a favourite wildflower of mine in the UK where I grew up. I have collected seeds and hope to have a profusion of these lovely plants next sumer.

It's lovely Elke. I've been wondering what these are called too. Now I know...Rose Campion. :o)

Lychnis coronaria sp. sieboldii or rose campion.
I was told it shouldn't grow here in this zone, but it's done well.

YES! I have had them in my garden. but they keep getting killed by frost. So last summer I put two of them in the outside back garden. So have to wait and see, whether they have survived.
I DO so LOVE rose campion! they are looking just lovely in yours!

Thanks, Gardengnome. I saved the seeds, and they are now coming up in my indoor pots. I'll post a photo.
