Thanks for this luscious looking flower picture, Jeremy.
Does it flower at certain times of year? Which area of Australia do you live in?

Is this in the Protea family? Welcome to GoY!

Hi Tasteyg, both the proteas and banksias belong to the proteaceae family I'm pretty sure.

never seen this one, but it looks beautiful!

B.Prionotes is a native of WA and grows to about 6M. Like all banksias (and proteas) they require poor very well drained soil and acidic soil.
These are quite "showy" but the loveliest orange in a banksia is B. Ashbyi
Thank you for the comments as the other banksias flower I'll post some more pics and encourage you to have a go at raising these amazing plants.
I live in Cockatoo Valley in South Australia where the plants seem to surviving a heat wave (Max temp the other day was 45.7 C and the temperature for the weak did not go below 41 C

Been listening to your weather conditions down there for the past week or more and it sounds horrible! I can only remember temps that high up here back in 1994 - it was around 44 C - but it wasn't for a whole week or so!
