I have two of these fantastic Cassia Fistula trees growing and we call them 'the golden shower tree' - they are a fantastic sight in the summer (not so pretty for the rest of the year). This shows just how spectacular they are.

I think the reason this one isn't grown so widely here in San Diego is because for much of the year it's not so spectacular. Cassia leptophylla is the extremely common Cassia tree here.
