top of patiocover. silver lace vine

top of patiocover. silver lace vine (don't remember)

This is the top of our patio cover in the back garden. blast! some animal broke the vine at ground level and it was deader than a doornail all last summer. I found one branch and took a cutting of it. It took me all summer to make it go and root and I eventually planted it at the old spot. So this spring I will have to see, whether it is still alive. If it has survived? aaah, my trellis over the back patio, will bloom lovely again. I just love the silver lace vine. It hangs in such whimsical manner over the edges. And I love it, when plants have that whimsicalness in them.

In the former dutch east indies, these flowers were called: bridestears. because of the little flowers.

My mother just had about had a knipshion when she saw this plant in my garden. That's how I know the name of this plant in the old days, when she was young.

Beautiful! Shame about that naughty animal destroying such a lovely thing. I hope it comes back to its former glory.

Love this vine. Will have to get one this year. I loved how you spelled knipshion, I haven't heard that word in a long time, and have no idea how you spell it, but your way is as good as any.

I think? it should be spelled kenipsion but I have trouble with words these days, as I have a bad heart, which goes off the deep end sometimes. Which means, that there is a moment of no blood nor oxigen going to my brain and that's how I lost a lot of my english and dutch language spelling. I hope that you understand what I mean? no oxigen not enough blood? no good that brain!
so I WILL make many grammatical errors am afraid or get what I want to say? all mixed up and garbled..

I agree with Whimsigal - I haven't heard the word in ages either (one of my grandmother's favourites!) but I understood your spelling of it perfectly - whether it's correct or not doesn't matter.

Sorry everyone, it's actually conniption although people also spell it kaniption, which was what I thought it was until I Googled it! http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/conniption
I learn something new everyday, in fact a lot of things on this site. Love this vine!

aaah, THANKS EVER SOOO MUCH!!! see I told you all my brain is SHOT! didn't even know that there is a merriam webster on the internet. I used to have one of those fantastic encyclopedic dictionaries. I used to work in a library years ago and they always had withdrawals of books which were either outdated or never used. That's how I got that dictionary.. then I met this hub, we moved here and gone with the wind went that encyclopedic dictionary and I have always felt as if one of my hands went missing... sigh sigh.. such is life. now you see? why I need to garden? to keep myself sane....
