Fantastic photo - the green of the lorikeet and the gold of the banksia - the colours of Oz. That is an eye-catching flower spike.

Very nice. I guess you guys down under are sweltering in the heat.

I think Jeremy and those who live in South Australia and Victoria are sweltering far more than we are here in the north of Australia Chrispook! Even though they are closer to the Antarctic they are having record summer temperatures.

Now I know what a Banksia is! I like it. :-)

Welcome from me, Jeremy, and thanks for educating me at the same time! lol.

Re: I guess you guys down under are sweltering in the heat.

Adelaide is almost in melt down - temperature stayed above 42C for the last 3 to 4 days (high was 45.7 C), 42C for tomorrow and continuing for the next 4 days at least its not humid. Currently there's a sought of cool southerly blowing.

Like the cat Clarice almost looks like my tom cat Harold.

Henry you should have a go at growing these - some of the Banksias are quite tough I like them because "They Grow on You" ... sorry.

Bernie, don/t know what the bird is but we get huge numbers of them.

finally thank you for the comments ... much appreciated .

Addition

Yes Bernie we get some pretty hot weather but the winters are cold (12C to 15C during the day and slightly below 0C at night and early morning) and sought of miserable.

Thanks for the comments

1. Re: " successfully raise a frangipani "

Tried growing one in a pot under the pergola - little success - I guess I could have mothered it but it would be out of place in my "Darwinian Garden" ... Survival of the fittest!!

Growing vegies and fruit trees at our place is a dead loss as they would take up too much water - I guess I could raise vegitables hydyoponically but I'm sure it would ring alarm bells in the local cop shop!!

Great shot, what a lovely bird !
Good grief, 45C is 114 degree F, I would have melted already.. ! lol. Nothing could survive that kind of heat, if it got that hot here, mixed with our high humidity, ! I feel for you !
