That looks pretty deep Lori.you pond has almost vanished under all that snow ....

I would say that there's about a foot of snow in total...it has drifted here and there...last year we got 59 inches...Yep! one inch short of FIVE FEET!

Good thing its made of copper, Lori, or it wouldn't be hovering anywhere!
And people here think the end of the world has come if there are a few inches of snow. It looks nice anyway.

Thanks Celandine.... yes it is very beautiful...and we think nothing of driving in it...own snowblowers to remove it from our paths and driveways...and budget for it's removal every winter...if we have a storm we just cope... the only bad storms that caused serious damage are freezing rain storms...in 1998 a huge area of eastern Ontario and southern Quebec and the Maritimes was blacked out...the huge hulking electric towers were buckled and lines were on the ground!! trees lose limbs...houses lose their heat and freeze up...a really messy disaster, but at least we don't get hurricanes!!

Just thinking about my comment on the ice storm...It's fortunate, in a way, that London is receiving snow...and not sleet or ice from freezing rain..now that would be a disaster!!!

Ice storms are what we in the southeast usually get instead of snow and you have to prepare for them. Areas of the midwest had a big ice storm last week and are still without power and water.
Fortunately we only get a big one every few years.
There are laws about keeping trees clear of overhead wires so that if iced up they don't fall on wires. You can be fined for not keeping them clear!

London and the southeast have had a lot more snow than here but we have had snow, thaw, more snow than a freeze so it is quite lethal out there~my husband went out with the dogs and slipped and has broken his ankle in three places ~the local hospital was not busy at all tonight~everyone is tucked up in front of the TV so we were not there too long.He has had xrays and plaster put on and tomorrow we will see a specialist~thank the lord for the NHS.A nice crew of nurses and doctors on there tonight!
It looks as though this cold snap will last about 10 to 14 days so not looking forward to that!

OMG Arlene, how terrible, I hope he is not in too much pain. Ice can be very bad and even if you are careful it can still mess with you. Tell him we are thinking about him and to take it easy.

goY...isn't working all that well today...must be frozen up too! So sorry to hear about your hubby's mishap, Arlene! Time for some TLC and a nice warm fire! I'm really surprised at the length of the snow episode... 10 to 14 days!! Last heard from our friends down under they are having record high temps in the 40's C. roughly 114 deg. F...that is even more lethal than cold, believe it or not... everybody is climate conscious suddenly! It's getting worrisome...

It looks deep enough to get lost in Lori... lol, glad you have the equipment to take care of this stuff when it gets to be too much !
Sorry to hear about your husband Arlene, glad they were able to take care of him in a timely manner, and I hope they gave him some decent pain medication to get him through the worst of the pain.

He was given boxes of pills and has another appointment in a week where they will take another xray to see how it is doing~they are expecting a lot of fractures!
He has to put no weight on it for six weeks so I will be doing quite a bit of dog walking!
It has just started to snow again now after thawing all day so not sure what the morning will bring~the wind has been coming from the east~ from Siberia~which is not what we usually get! we usually get our weather from you here in Wales, from the west which usually means rain and milder.
The whole of the UK is forecast snow and we are all running out of grit apparently ~lets hope it doesn't freeze!

Maybe you should give some thought to hibernation? I usually become sleepy and grumpy about this time of year...not fit company...so might as well crawl into a nice comfy bed and sleep it away!! LOL! sorry if I sound flippant....I know it is a crisis...good luck, Arlene. Hope there's a change in the wind direction soon.

~hibernation has definite attractions Lori~getting tired now as 1 am so will be heading off to bed soon!

Oh Arlene, I'm so sorry to hear about your husband. Are they going to have to put any pins in? What a shame. Give him my best wishes for a speedy and trouble free recovery.
