fantastic photo

How did you manage to glue his feet to the twig? What did Ivy say about all this.

Thanks - thought if a mention a few plants might excuse so many birds .Watch out for robin in rose , robin on climber, robin weeding ,robin digging ... just trying out those photo edit options Jacque .
I can still remember the days when you had to smear vaseline on it ( the lens ) to get that effect .. too much information ? lol
11 Feb, 2009
LMAO Vaseline Hey ;) lol Glad im new to Photography :)
11 Feb, 2009
I like that very much BB .. gone to favourites .. :o)

Oh you havent missed much Jacque - blacking out the bathroom with bin liners mixing chemicals , something magical about seeing the photos develop in a tray but you had to develop the film first it took forever ! Only for the really keen and of course you end up increasingly picky about quality ... no chance of deleting in those days .
Thought about borrowing one of Irish s robins Toto in future - those lovely ceramic ones she has , so much easier than glue.

Fantastic close up BB..for a moment I thought you had a new camera
11 Feb, 2009
I dont fancy a "dark room" BB. I will just enjoy your photos instead :) Another beauty. I need to set more plants for a 'robin friendly' environment.
11 Feb, 2009
Thanks Amy and Deida...just experimenting with different effects.
Dawn....just how do you intend to do that ? They love hedge cover and think you have lots of that ?
11 Feb, 2009
Great photo Bonkers....
11 Feb, 2009
Thanks Janette.....
11 Feb, 2009
That's what I was going to ask BB. I have lots of hedging and trees but dont fancy growing ivy up the house walls, where else do you suggest I grow it?
11 Feb, 2009
Great pic BB......love the focus in the middle,,,he's a super little bird!
11 Feb, 2009
Dawn...why not grow evergreen clematis armandii or an evergreen honeysuckle ? Both bird friendly...but you will need wires for support. Can submit pic of evergreen honeysuckle if you want one....
Janey...just experimenting with effects

Ah memories of a darkroom. I must have sat for 100's of shots when my father had his! Great fun!

A must for a Christmas card, BB. I was planning to grow a variegated ivy up my neighbours ugly new fence. I have some in the front garden and thought I would pull up some roots and transplant when the soil is a bit dryer (and the weather warmer).

There is a beautiful variety called hedera buttercup that melts to a buttery yellow colour - think Sid has an example.Always wanted one but hard to find Gee up here , you may have more luck in the South worth seeking out .
11 Feb, 2009
I love the fogged forefront :)
12 Feb, 2009
Great shot, really liked it but you still haven't said how you got the misted effect. Did you use a filter or is there a secret your not prepared to divulge?
12 Feb, 2009
Thanks Tg - who knows a few more years at it and get close to some you take!
No secret Toto - use photo editing Picasa2 , has allsorts of options , dont use many of them but this soft filter effect thought made a nice change.
12 Feb, 2009
Hve u also tried Picnik Ray/Jane that has some Opptions That Picasa2 has`nt ? Thats also free 2down load :)
12 Feb, 2009
Your one sounds best Jacque that word "free" has a nice ring to it.
12 Feb, 2009
That's great BB, a lovely photo of my favourite garden friend.
Got to go to my favourites.
12 Feb, 2009
Thanks for the tip on growing an evergreen clematis BB - I think I have an evergreen honeysuckle growing up the garage - think! My Dad set it so not sure - are the flowers a bit insignificant compared to deciduous honeysuckle? We have found birds nest in that :-)
12 Feb, 2009
Lol Toto...will try it Jacque !
Thanks so much Doctorbob.

Aw, giving away your secrets BB. I thought you caught it like that w the camera. Thanks for the compliment :) I have a pretty nice camera. I take tons of photos (becuase I'm really picky and I want the best shot possible). I really enjoy photography and sharing it w others. Everyone on this site is so nice and encouraging. I 've been thinking about taking a photography class to improve my knowledge on the subject. Couldn't hurt :)
I've used Picnik on Flicker before, didn't know that you could download it to the pc for free though. Thanks Jacque :)

Good to take loads of photos Tasteyg....just as well not as in old days, when had to make film rolls spin out !
13 Feb, 2009
Excellent photography Bonkers ! Love your photo, it looks very professional. It's gone to my favorites.
14 Feb, 2009
Oh thanks Flower.......

I took your advice Jacque and went to the picnik site and downloaded a programme called "Gimp" It looks as though it has lots of editing functions. All I have to do now is learn how to use them. This could take some time.
17 Feb, 2009
Gimp? Iv not heard of that 1 Toto? Im sure ul soon get hang of it & be Touching /Editing ur Pics in No Time :)
17 Feb, 2009

22 Feb, 2009
Thank you Pg and Sue , have a few that may make nice cards Sid did a lovely painting of a thrush I photoed on her home page entitled for Bonkersbon . Her drawing would make ideal gift card as taken in snow.
22 Feb, 2009
Like the Christmas card idea BB, would be fantastic, you could put us down for quite a few.
23 Feb, 2009
Why thank you Doctorbob.........
23 Feb, 2009
I like this photo - The foreground is beautifully sharp and the Robin looks as if he is sitting in the entrance of a green tunnel.
24 Feb, 2009
Thank you Jeremy - hope the weather breaks for you soon and get some much needed rain amazing they seem to be getting so much in Queensland .
We read here that fires have broken out again and hope you and your compatriots stay safe .
24 Feb, 2009
Fantastic photo! Just caught up with all your lovely wildlife photos.
24 Feb, 2009
Thank you Gwendas...funnily enough just caught up with your latest blog ! Love those primroses !
24 Feb, 2009
Weather breaking for us in Sth. Aus.? Wish it would.
Noticed an announcement on the radio this afternoon that the children (on the west coast) are not to go to school tomorrow because of the fire danger being increased due to hot conditions.
Rain? Can't see any forthcoming until the end of March. I don't think it's rained since the start of last December.

Sorry to here that...stay safe.........
