Very pretty.
Do you grow this at the back of a border ?

Hi Terratoonie, the answer is yes and no. As you probably know these grow to around 4 to 5ft and the back of the border is a sensible place to plant them. I first planted them some years ago at the back of the border but once you hsve them they seed themselves all over the place. I have left some close to the front of the border as they are sparcely foliaged and do not hide things behind them. I think they have a rather ethereal quality. I know a lot of gardeners would not agree with me but I come not from the garden design school but the school of cram it in and hope for the best. One thing though I don't believe that many could argue about their quality for attracting insects and butterflies.

Thanks for your explanation. I see why you would appreciate these in a variety of places in your garden. :o)
I had these a couple of years ago, and was very unlucky in that they died and did not seed. Don't know what went wrong there. Plants usually grow well in my gardens. Would slugs and snails attack the adult plants ?

I certainly have more than my share of slugs and snails and although they seem to eat everything, so far they have left the verbenas alone.

Thank you. I'll give this Verbena another try.
One more question ~ generally moist or drier soil ? Sun or shade ? Thanks.:o)

In my limited experience they grow just about anywhere. I have them in my front garden which is south facing and also in my back garden which is obviously north facing. The front gets very hot and dry in the summer and the soil there, which has not been much improved is still the original clay which goes very hard in the summer and is not much better when it rains. In the back garden the soil has been improved over the years and is now quite reasonable although during the winter months it remains very wet in places and although I lose some plants from waterlogging the verbenas always seem to survive. They seem pretty indestructable.

Thanks. Just don't know how I destroyed mine. Lol.
You've given me the enthusiasm to have another try with VB. :o)

Best of luck. I'm sure they will be ok.
