I ll put it near the Coprosma Spritz , seems to survive even a Lavetera has retained all its leaves through this winter !

Yes, my Lavatera had lots of leaves - just the topmost ones got a bit frosted. I pruned it back today - but not as hard as I normally would as it was a new one last year.
Which Coprosma is it? My 'Beatson's Gold' is OK - all the others look like Monty Python's parrot!

We put staples up the tree and tied the shoots in as it grew - no, not the Coprosma, the Clematis!!! It has a lot of new shoots, as far as I can see without climbing up on a wall and gazing upwards. It isn't rampant yet, but I have hopes for it. It flowered the first year (one flower), none last year, maybe this year??

I thought they were pretty bomb proof being evergreen but ours not doing at all well.Yet other things regarded as tender totally unaffected - we have an evergreen honeysuckle telmanii ? with orange flowers that loves it so cant explain why Clematis is suffering.

Don't be daft, BB - we all have plants and that's what we are talking about! Funny how some plants MEANT to be hardy have suffered, while others have survived no problem!

No, Angie - just not very commonly available in GCs. I discovered that it existed while I was researching for one of my course lessons! It's been on my 'wish-list' since then.
