I love this plant! Great photo. Are these difficult to care for? Can they take the heat?

Tasteyg we grow them here in north Queensland, Australia - they originated in South America, and grew over a wide diversity of climates there as they do here in Oz. I know they don't mind heat because they survive over here. Over here they seem to prefer an acidic soil and a warm spot - don't like hard frosts though. They are very easy to care for - just need a bit of pruning after flowering.

I am so jealous of all you southern hemisphere guys with the incredibly exotic plants which you have. In the UK we are a bit limited to the old standards. However I always try to plant something which has a bit of glits and glam which usually keels over and dies! Ah well we can all enjoy your fantastic photos Cheers.

I over wintered this in the greenhouse and I was able to get cuttings to grow so I will be planting this by a South facing wall this year and potting on the cutting. Due to our poor Summer it flowered late but was still flowering at Christmas which was a bonus. They seem very happy in pots so Olblueyes you can grow them too.

Had a Tibouchina jazzie that died and now have a ‘Carol-Lyn’ which bears deep purple flowers and white stamens. Grows to about 1.5m tall and 1m wide. I have posted a photo.
