This house is actually large. This is only a small section.

Maybe they celebrate Christmas year round. LOL.

Such a large house, it takes two months to remove all of the Christmas decorations. Lol.

There’s several Dypsis lutescens in my neighborhood some are bigger than these palms. The largest one I’ve ever seen was approximately 45 ft tall. It must be 50 or 60 plus years old.

One of the palms that grows well there and here not at all. Most things there grow here just smaller and slower. This is holy grail to get going in the bay area.

Actually, if comparing the SF Bay Area to San Diego; there’s so many plants I’ve discovered here which never grew there. Many I didn’t think would even grow here. There’s Acathophoenix, Dictyosperma, Elaeis guineensis.

What’s funny, I’ve read on line that Chrysophyllum cainito can’t grow and fruit in California. There’s many here growing and fruiting. There’s dozens of these trees at the SD Zoo. It’s funny I’ve never took a pic of any because I thought they were easy and a common tree here. 😂 I’ve seen several people on YouTube growing this tree in the LA and Orange County areas. This is why I don’t go on most of these garden websites.

I remember having to prove many negative people wrong on some garden websites that Delonix regia actually grows and flowers well in Southern California.

I know I find some things I would never have thought would take a winter here that photos don't lie- Sausage tree with hanging sausages,or giant Ombu tree trunk swallowing up a local backyard. Consider 1970-1990 here and you know Andy,the tropical pallet was very limited when every decade or so we would get a hard arctic freeze.
My theory these days has been if it does very all over socal,its worth a try in the bay area.

It’s definitely worth trying almost anything up there these days. The weather has really changed in the last 22 years since I moved away. I would never ever think to see a mature Royal palm growing in the SF Bay Area. The big Plumeria tree I posted 3 years ago was only about a mile from that Royal palm.

The hands down winner of doubter was the guy in Anaheim who told me we couldn't grow avocados. That's Myopia for you.
Even the small things...my Tillandsia's are getting so full where I put them. When I started by the time the 1990 freeze rolled around I lost all of them..a modest share of them. Now? Some clumps look like little shrubs

I actually think the SF Bay Area has the best climate for avocado trees in California (probably the U.S.). I think because it’s closer to the conditions of higher elevation tropics. That’s crazy a person thought they couldn’t grow there! But, I guess if that person never has been to the SF Bay Area they would’ve never seen the many big, very old bearing avocado trees there.
