We planted 4,000 snowdrops "in the green" in December - they made a stunning display!
We didn't have a holiday away last year with 6 days of BBC Gardeners' World filming, 7 open days, taking over the wilderness next door and my husband fracturing his skull.
The furthest journey we made was last February when we went 63 miles to Welshpool twice in one week to collect three multi-stemmed birches (Jacquemontii) and a Prunus Serrula, with its wonderful, glossy coppery-red bark. This February holiday we went again to Welshpool to collect another birch. In twelve months the furthest we've been is 63 miles - three times! Perhaps, when we retire, we'll get back to travelling again.

They weren't very old - the photo shows them one year on. The spindly tips were about 9 foot high.

Well it is a shame that you're not able to find the time to travel far, but the work put into your garden is incredibly rewarding - it's just stunning.

Looks great! Did you buy mature trees? We have three Betula jacquemontii (Can't remember the cultivar) waiting to be planted in one hole to create a multi - stem effect. This will be planting for the future!
