Redpoles are very social, a whole flock showed up, but my little feeder could only accomodate a few, most were picking the porch and other places while waiting their turn.

Thanks :) I bought it for Bianca when she's all locked up in winter. Little did I know I'd become so fascinated with the birds myself.

I've only ever seen the Redpoll flock once, a few years ago. They arrived in the middle of winter on the farm and stayed around for about a week and then moved on. Pretty birds.

They are pretty, are they a type of finch?

They are a type of finch Janey. The males have a crimsony red patch on their foreheads and their breasts are washed with crimson. Lovely.

I saw a flock a few years back and one was all white except for the stripes and the crimson. Beautiful. Big flock, I think they were watching out for that one.
