Is it safe?

I was stood just a few feet away but this hen blackbird still ventured out. I'm pretty sure she is nesting in our hedge, they're always around.
An almost-sighting today was a sparrowhawk - I only glimpsed it as it disappeared under the hedge, then there was a commotion from the starlings in the huge fir tree nearby. I discovered the remains of the hawks breakfast at the end of the garden - a pile of feathers and what looks like the skull from a starling (better than a blackbird!)

Those Sparrowhawks are lethal aren't they. Last year we had one swoop into our shed...........I think it was after Jasper my canary who was in the garden in the sun!
