Hi Spritz I have just had a camellia given to me so can you tell me the best place to plant it any advice would be welcome

They must have acid soil/ericaceous compost (mine is in a pot) and a sheltered position. They really prefer dappled shade in a woodland setting, but the important thing is not to plant it facing east - if the buds/flowers get frosted, then the rising sun thaws them out, that's the end of the flowers! Mine faces west and seems very happy there.
I hope that helps?

Wow, lovely camelia. What a striking colour.

I bought this to mark our Ruby Wedding three years ago. I made a silly mistake and planted it in a pot which is narrow at the top. I shall probably have to break the pot when re-planting is needed! :-(

thank you I will certainly take your advice into consideration when I am planting it
