God...do I hate these bugs...I've been killing them over the last several weeks. Unfortunately, they don't disappear in the Winter.
Bernieh, I'm curious...is this plant an Acalypha? Because the grasshoppers love my Acalypha macrophylla.

Yes Delonix it is an acalypha - had so many grasshoppers munching their way through the garden lately - there's holes in everything!

I hate when that happens! We have very large leaf hoppers they eat like grasshoppers and have an even more varied diet...they also eat my Plumeria leaves.
