Horrible patch totally tangled in ivy - paid my daughter and her friend to put in an hour on this bit. Well worth it!

Looking good.
Well done to the ivy-bashers.
Good sport for the Goy Wellie Olympics.
Who is wearing the wellies ?
Those qualify this pic. for my favourites.
A good selection of wellies on there.
Lol.

Ivy is the bane of my life - getting my fingers under the strands and heaving it out makes my hands ache!
I sympathise! Is it in the back as well?

Mostly the back is clear on the top terrace, but the lower wooded part is covered in it. I think sorting the back terraces will take a while - my hub has been taming a huge forty foot hazel that's choked in the stuff.

I've been trying to get rid of the stuff for 4 years - still haven't succeeded. We just have to keep heaving away, don't we! I wish I had an ivy task force. :-O (that's me yelling for one!)

Well, there has to be some use for teenagers! LOL Anyone know whether I can compost it - or will it just grow back like the terminator? (The ivy, I mean, not the teenagers, they obviously compost very well.)

My next door neighbour has planted ivy right by my new fence which cost me a lot of money to fix up... It will soon be smothered in horrible, clinging ivy. Ruined. She doesn't consider other people when she plants this ivy everywhere.
I guess you aren't in danger of new ivy being planted ?

I don't think so, though I am planting some myself on the side fence... It's in a dark little alley between the two houses and should be contained as there is paving for several metres all around. I just don't know what else might grow there, as it's dry, dark and windy. The ivy I've bought goes a lovely maroon colour in the winter and as one of the living room windows looks onto the alleyway, I need something nice there. I hope my neighbour won't be cursing me soon.

I think if ivy is in a contained area, that's much more acceptable. :o)

Fairweather, DO NOT compost the ivy - don't forget the way it roots itself! I burn the strands - wretched stuff.
Mind you, I do grow several pretty variegated ones! They are no trouble at all. It's the native one that goes everywhere.
