Mr pheasant

Ha ha ha......Look dinner..................

Milky...(shocked voice)...you can't say that! He'll never come again if he hears you....he doesn't know I don't eat meat so he's safe!!

He is beautiful thanks so much.

He does look splendid in the sunshine. Last year, towards the end of April, he brought his family to feed, spending his time patrolling the perimeter of the area keeping all others away while they had their fill!

We have the same potty. The phesants bring there young into the garden to be feed its lovely to see them also we get french paridges.I but sacs of mixed corn for my chucks and the phesants love it

I am a pleasant pheasant
and I'm rather plump as well
I've really eaten too much food
but I feel kinda swell.
Now where are all the lady birds
the ones a dowdy brown
They seem to be so scarce these days
I'll have to track them down.
My plumage shines so prettily
I am a splendid bird
and if I shout so pleasantly
perhaps they'll hear my word.

Pheasants look really clumsy but by golly can they take of and fly at angles very well. My neighbour had one in his courtyard space and I disturbed it and it flew almost straight up and over his roof in no time at all.

Lindak...we recently had one fly over a hedge straight into the open window of our van as we were driving along! Hubby had his arm resting on the open window which deflected it into the wing mirror, which completely broke off! Sadly, it didn't do the pheasant any good either....
This visiting Mr Pheasant is still coming, and still on his own. By this time last year he had a lady and babies with him. So although he shouts pleasantly, they are not responding....

Perhaps she has been tempted
by another pheasant
wooing her and strutting round
finding love so pleasant.
By now she would have her chicks
running round her feet
and I bet she's training them
to eat the farmers wheat.

In amongst the farmers wheat
Is where I see him go
Perhaps in there he hopes to meet
His lady he loved so!

Pottygardener has turned to pottypoetry,
is he going to have the pleasant pheasant for his tea,
or will he take him home with him to decorate his plot?
It would look very quaint with a brown pheasant sat in pot.
A pheasant sat in pot would be the talk of everyone,
They'd all want a big pheasant for their garden just for fun,
but don't forget a pheasant likes some bird food every day
to keep his pecker up for feathered sculpture with some pay.

Mr Pheasant is quite safe with me
I don't eat meat...he's not for tea!
In a pot on my plot?
A pot that big I have not got!
He comes for his breakfast, lunch and tea
To eat the ground feed put out by me.
If only his lady would come back
There's plenty to eat, not just a snack!
