Nope, I grew it from a seed when I lived in Sweden, and brought the baby plant over with me when I moved in 2003. I'd seen them in the botanic gardens in Uppsala and fell in love with the flowers and foliage. I couldn't find anywhere that sold them in Sweden, and ended up sending off to a specialist nursery that were offering a few fresh seeds for sale.
Yes, those little brown things will swell up into flower buds. They are a lovely bright red colour, cup shaped single row of red petals with a mound of yellow stamens at the centre. Gorgeous, but they don't last very long.
