leaves change from green to plum as the leaves age.

It looks like you have a seedling next to your dales strain it is one that will seed and cross with others
Lucky you :)

Dales strain doesnt have the bright green with the darker foliage at the same time the same size usually.
Usually the green is when the leaves are imature and you would expect the whole plant to be at the same stage, but the green leaves look the same size and age as the plum leaves I thought it must be a mutated crown, which does happen or a seedling at the side. Usually true off shoots will grow evenly on each side like 2 crowns or 3 crowns
Has that bit gone darker now?
If it hasnt gone darker like the rest pull it off in spring and repot it to see what happens.
The bright green looks like its a mutant or a seedling at the side of the original plant. I could be wrong though if it has grown unevenly.
My dales strain isnt mixed colours only on smaller growth at the root level.
Your right the flowers are not ones to keep on as they arent particularly beautiful.
I will take a picture of my dales strain for you to compare.
I wont get time today though sorry, a million other jobs to be done.
I have a lot of paper work and the new catalogue etc to be getting finished.
A womans work is never done:(

once i can get back in the garden i will have to investigate. I suspect the green leaves were this years and the photo was taken earlier in the year. It didnt lose the previous years leaves though.
I am intrigued.

lol
Let me know
You can trim back the leaves in spring then all the new leaves will show up better and it will help to keep it neater.
Wait until it warms up though :)
