~is it melting fast now GT?

looks like the snow is melting away quite quickly greenthumb,, nice pic with the blue sky above

The snow is melting very quickly. He would have been standing up to his hips just two weeks ago. I still have buried beds, but the drive is starting to show.

He certainly is keen

You can tell what we expect still from the snow by his hip waders, still a little deep.

what are the trees ?

The white trees are Betula papyrifera, paper birch. It is most of the tree you can see all the way up the hill. The evergreen is a white spruce, Pinaceae glauca. These two are the staples of the boreal forest.

Ah, it's a spruce ! i was thinking they were betulas', I grow quite a few here and they grow wild in the forest here too.

I've always loved them. There are sooo many here. There are two real big old ones right beside my garden. Their children are like weeds. LOL! Heres a link to a fall pic of the forest along my yard.

That's how our forested hills look. Now and then there are groves of poplars and aspen.
