He's beautiful...did you have to chain him to the stump to get him to hold still (lol) just kidding...Is he a fairly large bird?

Lol, I didn't even see the chain in that context - good one! He is about oriole sized, about 7", and sounds similar to a robin, but more melodic. The female is brown striped like Mrs.Redwing, but sharper stripes and eyestripe. I haven't seen Mrs.Grosbeak yet - I'll try to snap one of her if I do. : )

Lovely - we had a rose-breasted grosbeak here for a few days last year. Hope it will return. Great shot!
