We were given an Aloe Vera cutting smaller than the one on the left last January. I stuck it on the window cill in the kitchen, in a pot of sandy soil and watered it about once a month. The only attention it has had since is to be potted on twice as it grew and the odd leaf removed to squeeze the sap onto skin burns.

Its too big for the house now I've put it on the patio in the hope that it flowers this summer?

It suckers vigorously. I have replanted about 20 suckers from it over the last year. I'm not sure why but when I leave them outside they go from vibrant green to a pale greenish/grey, even those I put out during last summer. The main plant has now been outside for 5 days and has done the same. I shall leave it out for a few weeks and see what happens.
