This is my pineapple I grew last year 2008. It was a good tasting fruit.

Yes, I've seen huge acreage of pineapple plantings in Hawaii. They are pretty amazing!

Yes, pineapple plants are not the easiest plant to grow indoors. I grow my outside only...with that being said -- it's a tricky thing placing them where they won't sunburn. I've seen some in the ground here and they looked very good. Whenever, I've tried to grow a pineapple in the ground the sow bugs will eat all the roots.
My friend started this plant from a pineapple top. My friend gave it to me...and a couple of months later it started developing the pineapple fruit.

i have a rooted pineapple top. maybe it will produce a new pineapple...

That's how they are commercially grown in Hawaii. It will take form 12 months to 24 months to produce fruit. It just depends on the weather conditions.

It always amazes me to see the way they grow - we have a pineapple farm just north of our city and it's a treat to drive by and see these wonders.
