Wild or field gladiolus

This is growing wild on the street corner...it's been catching my for the last week. I finally stopped for a look :) I wasn't sure what it was at first, but the more I looked at the more it looked like a gladiolus. A quick web search confirmed it!

Planted some of these about 6 weeks ago, fell in love with them many years ago have put them in pots, they have come up but no flowers yet.........

I think that I'm going to take a little stroll down to the corner and gently lift one of these out...would that be wrong??? They're on public property growing wild ...hmmm :)
