Terratoonie:
Yes, it's growing well. I decided to take a night time photo because it doesn't show all the weeds. lol.

Youndaisydee, these plants are commonly sold here. You may want to check your local nurseries. I've also seen them available for sale on the internet.
Terratoonie:
There's many more than the one weed. I've been weeding for several weeks...it's been too hot though to work in the yard ...I have to wait until late evening (just before sunset) to start weeding.

I've tried to grow Alocasias a couple of times, but they only last one year, as they rot away in the winter. I have never seen one of those Alocasia Portodora. Your garden must be paradise Delonix1 :-)

Louis,
Alocasia species are tropical...I had sugguested to GoY member Lori...to grow them in Spring until first frost and then lift the tuber and store them over Winter.
I have problems sometimes growing Alocasia also, however, it's not cold...it's sow bugs (I have them here by the millions) they love to eat the tubers and kill the plant.
Yes, I do have a little paradise. I plant many unusual tropical and some ultra-tropical plants and seem to get away with it. My coldest temp I will usually get in Winter is a couple of mornings of 41 degrees F./ 5 degrees C., however, on the flip side I can have temps in the middle of Winter of 90 degrees F./ 32 degrees C.
