Interesting..

Interesting..

After the flooring of the house was hauled up and a lot of debris cleared, a well was found underneath the house! This well was constructed about 100 years ago. Do you think a house was built over a well, or was it put there for a reason?

Maybe it was put there for drainage ?
In the old cottage where I used to live I had to have the floor dug up once, and they found what looked like the course of an old stream under it. They built houses in odd places than didn't they ?

That's what I was wondering, HYwel...If someone just built a house over a well wouldn't they fill it in first? It was about 14 feet deep.
We get a lot of water and flooding here in extreme weather..There is a little pond at the end of the street that has been filled in over the years. I guess some flooding is to be expected.
Digging for the new home will happen soon..I'm so eager to see what may be dug up. I've already claimed the rocks :D...

No, the people that own the land filled it in, they will be rebuilding over the area. But it was so cool to look at.

Very interesting. There may have been access from the house at some point. Doesn't look like it reaches the water anymore.
